The experience
Chichén Itzá is one of the most important Mayan cities in the Yucatán, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. Its Kukulkán pyramid, known as El Castillo, is a symbol of pre-Hispanic Mexico. Xichén Classic is a full-day excursion of about 12 hours, run by Grupo Xcaret, departing from Cancun or the Riviera Maya.
The tour includes transfer from your hotel or meeting point, a guided tour of the Chichén Itzá archaeological site and a visit to a cenote to swim. Afterwards you eat at the cenote's restaurant, with a buffet of about 60 minutes that includes one aguas frescas drink. At the end, the return transfer to your hotel or meeting point is also included. The itinerary may change the order of the visits depending on operations.
This tour does not include a visit to Valladolid. Additional drinks, a towel and tips are not included. Inside the archaeological zone climbing the pyramids is not allowed, and video cameras have an extra fee. If you prefer a more comfortable trip, with breakfast on board and lunch in Valladolid, compare with Xichén Deluxe.
Bring light clothes, a cap, sunscreen, a swimsuit, a towel and comfortable walking shoes. Children 5 to 11 pay the child rate, and ages 0 to 4 are free. The tour runs Monday to Saturday: pick your date in the calendar and an agent confirms with you on WhatsApp.
